I love this time of year so much, and look forward to Christmas vacation all year. I love all of the little things we do to make the holidays special, and the experiences that we look forward to all year.
Christmas Eve was spent at home: relaxing, watching Christmas movies, enjoying a visit from my parents, making sugar cookies for Santa, our traditional walk around the neighborhood to see the lights, Ben reading The Night Before Christmas, and Shiloh and Phoenix each got to open one gift before bed.
On Christmas morning, Phoenix woke up first (he was already in our room, as was Shiloh), and Shiloh convinced him to sleep just a little more. By 6:30, we were all up and excited to start the day. We opened stockings first, and then took our time opening all of the lovely gifts under our tree. In the afternoon, Phoenix wasn’t feeling very well and was having trouble napping, so we went on a long family drive. In the evening, we had a nice meal together and played with all of the new toys. Christmas is so special to us, and we are so thankful that we were all home to celebrate together.
This Christmas was a very emotional one because we are facing a lot of uncertainty up ahead, but Ben and I tried to stay focused on the present moment and enjoying the love and excitement from Shiloh and Phoenix. We are so thankful for our beautiful children and for this time of year.
I also want to mention how incredibly thankful we are to the following organizations for helping make Christmas possible for our family this year: B.I.G. Love Cancer Care, Shimmering Waters Pools Inc., Gamerosity, and St. David’s Healthcare/HCA.
