Looking Back: Trip to Albuquerque (Part 2)

December 29-31, 2015

After our first fun-filled days on our holiday vacation, we were excited to see what the next couple of  days had in store.  We started the day out with breakfast and racing up and down Ashley and Daniel’s neighborhood streets.  The kids had so much fun playing together, and so did all of us!

In the afternoon we rode the New Mexico Rail Runner from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, where we had lunch at Tomasita’s.  So much fun to ride the train, and have some delicious New Mexican cuisine!

That evening we went to an old family favorite, Fuddruckers, to celebrate all of the December and January birthdays.

The next day, we went on an all day excursion to the Sandia Peak Ski and Tramway.  This aerial tramway took us on a 30 minute ride up to the beautiful Sandia Mountains, where we had a blast (trash bag) sledding down the hills.

Ben, Shiloh, Phoenix, and I left the next morning and drove back to Austin.  It was the next afternoon that Phoenix’s fever began.  I really can’t describe the feeling I have looking back at these photos- it is so painful for me to see them and remember how everything changed in an instant, yet so helpful to see all of these happy and beautiful memories.  I have to believe, and I do believe, that we will have these kinds of trips and events and good times again.  I also have to say, that as hard as this past year has been, we truly have had many wonderful, happy times throughout.
